POST ADOPTION SUPPORT

Placement isn't where our relationship ends.

The paperwork may eventually get filed away, but adoption keeps showing up in real life—in relationships, questions, milestones, hard days, and really really good days.

Our support doesn't disappear once placement happens. What that looks like depends on whether you're a birth parent or an adoptive family, but either way, you'll always know how to find us.

Mother And Child

FOR BIRTH PARENTS

There's no expiration date on needing support.

Life after placement doesn't follow a schedule. You might want someone to talk to right away, months from now, or years down the road. You might be navigating grief one day and feeling completely at peace with your decision the next day. There isn't one "right" way to experience life after adoption.

Counseling is available to our birth parents after placement—for as long as you need it. That support doesn't expire when the adoption finalizes or when a certain number of months has passed.

And sometimes what you need isn't a counseling appointment. Maybe you have a question about communication with the adoptive family. Maybe something about your open adoption feels awkward and you're not sure how to bring it up. Maybe a birthday, holiday, or milestone stirred up feelings you weren't expecting. Or maybe you just want to call someone who already knows the story.

You can still call or text us. Our birth parents have our cell numbers and communicate directly with us throughout the adoption process. That doesn't suddenly change after placement. If something comes up, you always know how to reach us!

However life looks afterward, our door stays open.

FOR ADOPTIVE FAMILIES

Placement happens first. Finalization comes later.

Bringing your baby home is a huge moment—but there are still a few pieces of the adoption process happening after placement.

We'll stay in touch as you complete your required post-placement visits and reports, and we'll work with the professionals involved in your case to keep everything moving towards finalization. If paperwork needs to get somewhere, a question comes up, or you're wondering where things stand, you still have people you can call.

And not every situation after placement is about paperwork. You may be figuring out communication with your child's birth family, navigating the openness everyone agreed to, or simply adjusting to a relationship that is now happening in real life instead of being discussed hypothetically before placement.

You still have our cell numbers. Use them. We communicate directly with our matched families throughout the process, and placement doesn't suddenly turn that relationship inot a general inbox and an office voicemail.

Paperwork continues. But so does the relationship.

NEED SOMETHING?

You already know who to call.

If you're a Family Creations birth parent or adoptive family and something has come up after placement, reach out. Whether it's a question about your adoption, openness, counseling, finalization, or something you're not quite sure who to ask—start with us.

If we're not the person who can solve it, we'll help get you to the person who can.
